There is a fascinating story to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just across the border from nearby Thailand, in which casino gambling is not allowed. Eight gambling halls are based in a generally small area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent area, a 3 to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest betting locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The astonishing income accrued from the gambling dens ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few restrictions constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; however, financing sources are cryptic. The borders are officially open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and though visas are allegedly needed to cross, there are ways around this, as is correct of many borders.
The original Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving only 1 casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored ship gambling den, highlights 150 slot machines and 60 table games. The Naga casino never closes with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of blackjack, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The original gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long followed. There are one hundred and fifty slot machines and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred slots and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety six table games, including 87 punto banco (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and 66 of the familiar gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an international resort and hotel complex that highlights numerous comforts in addition to the casino, which houses 10,000 sq.ft. of 130 slot machines and 88 gaming tables.
