There is an appealing story to the Cambodia gambling dens that sit just across the border from next door Thailand, in which gambling den gambling is banned. Eight gambling dens are situated in a relatively tiny location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling dens is in a perfect destination, a 3 to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 17:00, and though visas are allegedly necessary to pass, there are methods around this, as is real of many borders.
The first Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving only a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored barge gambling den, highlights 150 slot machine games and 60 tables. The Naga gambling hall is open all hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The initial gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long followed. There are 150 slot machines and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 one armed bandits and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and sixty six of the normal gaming tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, also a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational vacation and hotel compound that highlights many amenities in addition to the gambling hall, which contains ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machines and eighty eight table games.
