There is an appealing story to the Cambodia casinos that lie just over the border from neighboring Thailand, in which gambling hall gaming is not legal. Eight casinos are situated in a relatively tiny area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent destination, a three to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest betting centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The astonishing capital acquired from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a couple of restrictions requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mostly Thai; although, financial sources are cryptic. The borders are officially open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and despite the fact visas are allegedly required to pass, there are methods around this, as is accurate of many border crossings.
The initial Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked barge gambling den, features 150 slot machine games and 60 tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The 1st gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly followed. There are one hundred and fifty slot machine games and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slot machines and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety six gaming tables, including 87 punto banco (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and 66 of the common table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, also a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-inclusive resort and hotel compound that features numerous luxuries on top of the casino, which provides 10,000 sq.ft. of 130 one armed bandits and eighty eight gaming tables.
