There is an interesting story to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, in which gambling den betting is not permitted. Eight casinos are established in a generally small space in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime spot, a three to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The phenomenal capital gained from the gambling dens ranges from 7.5 million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a couple of limitations constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; still, financial sources are cryptic. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 17:00, and despite the fact visas are allegedly necessary to pass, there are ways around this, as is correct of many border crossings.
The 1st Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored barge gambling hall, features one hundred and fifty slots and 60 gaming tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The original gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon followed. A total of 150 one armed bandits and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred slot machines and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and 96 table games, including 87 baccarat banque (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and sixty six of the normal gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-inclusive resort and hotel complex that highlights numerous luxuries on top of the gambling hall, which has 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty slots and eighty eight gaming tables.
