There is an appealing history to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just over the border from nearby Thailand, in which gambling den gambling is against the law. Eight gambling halls are based in a generally tiny space in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime area, a three to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai laborers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The amazing income accrued from the gambling dens ranges from 7.5 million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a few restrictions requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; although, investment sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 1700, and though visas are allegedly needed to pass, there are ways around this, as is correct of most border crossings.

The initial Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked bateau gambling hall, features 150 slots and 60 table games. The Naga casino is open all day and night with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long followed. There are one hundred and fifty slot machine games and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machine games and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slot machine games and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and 66 of the normal table games, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive resort and hotel complex that contains a number of luxuries accompanying the gambling den, which offers 10,000 sq.ft. of 130 slot machine games and 88 table games.
