There is a captivating history to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just across the border from neighboring Thailand, in which casino gaming is not permitted. Eight gambling halls are situated in a generally small space in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent area, a 3 to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest gambling locations in Asia. The initial casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly followed. A total of one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred slot machines and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and ninety six table games, including eighty seven baccarat (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and 66 of the normal table games, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 casinos in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational vacation and hotel compound that features numerous luxuries aside from the gambling hall, which offers ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and 88 gaming tables.
