The prospect of living in Zimbabwe is somewhat of a gamble at the moment, so you might think that there might be very little desire for going to Zimbabwe’s gambling dens. Actually, it appears to be functioning the opposite way, with the atrocious market conditions leading to a larger desire to wager, to try and find a fast win, a way from the problems.

For many of the citizens subsisting on the tiny local wages, there are two common forms of gambling, the national lotto and Zimbet. Just as with almost everywhere else in the world, there is a state lotto where the probabilities of hitting are surprisingly small, but then the prizes are also unbelievably big. It’s been said by financial experts who study the idea that many do not purchase a ticket with an actual belief of profiting. Zimbet is centered on either the local or the British football leagues and involves predicting the results of future matches.

Zimbabwe’s casinos, on the other foot, look after the very rich of the state and tourists. Up till a short time ago, there was a considerably substantial vacationing industry, founded on nature trips and visits to Victoria Falls. The market collapse and connected bloodshed have carved into this trade.

Among Zimbabwe’s casinos, there are 2 in the capital, Harare, the Carribea Bay Resort and Casino, which has 5 gaming tables and one armed bandits, and the Plumtree gambling hall, which has only slots. The Zambesi Valley Hotel and Entertainment Center in Kariba also has only slots. Mutare has the Monclair Hotel and Casino and the Leopard Rock Hotel and Casino, the two of which contain gaming tables, slots and video machines, and Victoria Falls houses the Elephant Hills Hotel and Casino and the Makasa Sun Hotel and Casino, each of which offer slot machines and blackjack, roulette, and craps tables.

In addition to Zimbabwe’s casinos and the above alluded to lottery and Zimbet (which is quite like a pools system), there are a total of two horse racing complexes in the nation: the Matabeleland Turf Club in Bulawayo (the second metropolis) and the Borrowdale Park in Harare.

Seeing as that the market has shrunk by more than 40% in the past few years and with the associated poverty and bloodshed that has come to pass, it is not well-known how healthy the tourist business which funds Zimbabwe’s gambling halls will do in the in the years to come. How many of the casinos will be alive till things improve is simply unknown.
